Have you heard of the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge? It may sound difficult at first, but it’s a very realistic goal. If you read one book a day with your child, that’s 365 books in a year. In two years, that’s 730 books. You’ll surpass the threshold with 1095 books in just three years!
I’m sure your little one is just like Maya and requests the same book over multiple times. It counts each time you read the book! You can keep track of your books read using Goodreads, Google Docs, Notes, or the free printables or app available on the 1000 Books website. Many local libraries have also partnered with this challenge and provide incentives at milestones, as well as reading lists.
At this point, I’m sure we’ve read over 500 hundred books, but I haven’t been keeping track. I thought taking part in this challenge would be a wonderful keepsake to share with Maya when she’s older. We’ll also share simple and inexpensive ways to celebrate each 100th book milestone. Let us know if you’re in by completing the form or tag us on social media using the printable below. We’d love to cheer you on!
